Friends of Cardigan: TREVOR SMITH

I love working with Trevor because he’s a master at lighting, always makes everyone look GORGEOUS, and understands the value of a workcation (like our shoot in Montauk)! Every photo shoot would be at the beach if we could…hmmm…

We also have a shared love of Meatball Shop sandwiches (hello classic meatball sandwich - tomato sauce on whole wheat with provolone!) which we wash down with organic juice (OR beer)!

Who:   Trevor Smith

What: Photographer

Wear:  Jeans / T-shirts / Vans slip-ons…

Stripes or Solids? Solids

First cardigan memory

My first cardigan memory is of the headmaster at the private boarding school at Toyon Bay (on Catalina Island) where my father taught mathematics… He rocked ‘em with a pair of weathered leather dock shoes.

Stolen goods:

When I was around 13, I would steal my dads Pendleton cardigan from the 60’s - I endured the scratchy wool to channel it’s vintage cool…

Cardigan style:

Just out of the surf - over a pair of wet trunks watching the sunset with some good friends.

If I were a cardigan, I would be…

Acid washed (can you do that?!!) with some Native American print thrown in. A well traveled trustworthy friend.

This summer I’m looking forward to…

Getting up to Long Island - beach days with L (Lauren) surfing with friends, sailing with my dad and the Oak Cliff crew and fresh summer corn on the grill!

Favorite thing about the shoot in Montauk

Lynne’s collaborative spirit, she gave Lauren and I plenty of freedom to execute the shoot - it really shows in the final edit.

And of course, staying and working in Montauk was amazing!
