Friends of Cardigan: LAUREN AUSTIN WOOD

A CARDIGAN shoot wouldn’t be a CARDIGAN shoot without the styling of our friend Lauren Austin Wood! When she’s not traveling the world for work, giving us inspiration with her blog or making rad music in Brooklyn, she’s working (and hanging!) with us to make our shoots look as awesome as possible, and as fun as they can be.

Who: Lauren Austin Wood

What:  I am a fashion stylist, I curate a Travel/ Style/ Inspiration blog called Wax + Cruz, and I make music.

Wear:  I am definitely a denim and suede girl— It’s my Texas roots.  I am also really drawn to texture and indigenous details— I like fringe too!

Stripes or Solids? Solids

First cardigan memory?

I wore a uniform in elementary school— Navy cardigan, white button up, and a plaid skirt (with a tie on Fridays)— totally nerdy but I expressed myself with knee high socks and men’s wingtips when I realized I could wear whatever shoes I wanted!

Stolen goods?

For sure! During the good old grunge days when I was really into Nirvana, I would steal my granddad’s itchy, fuzzy cardies— they came in amazing old school colors like pea green and salmon.  He had amazing old man style— Lots of bright colors, hats, pattern mixing, etc.  I also wear Trev’s (my guy) oversized stuff around the house when I want to feel really cozy.

Cardigan style?

Oversized cardie, teeny tank, and high-waisted jeans.

If I was a cardigan, I would be…

Something fuzzy and soft, slightly see through, and always falling off the shoulder…

What are you looking forward to most this summer?

Getting back to Texas for some river time with my family. We eat a lot of decadent Mexican food, go hiking in the hill country, and float on the river- sometimes with a glass of champagne!! It’s heaven!

Also, I am looking forward to getting some surfing in with boyfriend, Trev. He has a super graceful style and is a great teacher in the water. He’s always encouraging even when I totally  wipe out!!
